American Idol’s Simon Cowell is speaking out about Clay Aiken’s coming out of the closet. When told that Clay had revealed he was gay, the American Idol judge jokingly responded “Wow, that’s a shock. It’s like being told Santa Clause isn’t real — unbelievable.” He then got more serious saying “Good for him. If he said it, it’s the right thing for him. Good for him.” Simon also talked about the fans’ reactions saying “I don’t think anyone cares. Let’s face it. It’s 2008. You know, who cares?” Simon also squashed rumors that he was asked to be the godfather of Clay’s son saying “No, I don’t know him well enough, and I think I’d be the last person on Earth he’d call.”
