Ryan O’Neal has finally admitted he was having drug problems after pleading guilty to possessing a controlled substance for which he was arrested last September. The 67-year old actor earlier claimed innocence and blamed everything on his 23-year old son Redmond. Along with the guilty plea is his agreement to enter an 18-month drug program in exchange for the dismissal of all charges against him subject to certain conditions.
Lawyer Mark Wesman said the actor wanted to resolve this in a dignified manner so he can finally leave all this behind. Ryan and Redmond were arrested after the authorities conducted a routine probation sweep in line with the previous arrest of Redmond. Ryan earlier said the vial of amphetamine found in his room was confiscated from his son. Drug use seems to run in the family. O’Neal’s 44-year old daughter Tatum was also arrested earlier in June for attempting to buy cocaine. Tatum earlier told Oprah that she plans to make herself of service to other drug addicts. Well, now she will have this opportunity right in her backyard.
