Oscars winners Meryl Streep and Gwyneth Paltrow may be goddesses in the acting world but not one of them was able to get the coveted Grammys Awards. Paltrow and Streeps were nominated for a Grammy for the first time, Paltrow, who read the “Brown Bear and Friends” was nominated for best spoken album for children while Streeps, who sang songs for the soundtrack of the musical “Mamma Mia!. The choice of Streep for the Abba musical was not welcomed with open hearts by critics at first but the movie and the soundtrack made it big.

Streep lost to “Juno” while Paltrow lost to Bill Harley, a veteran children’s entertainer who read “Yes to Running” which is his own creation. This was not however the first time for Harley as he also won the award in 2007 for “Blah Blah Blah: Stories About Clams, Swamp Monsters, Pirates & Dogs.” Paltrow did not go home empty-handed though as husband Chris Martin was a big winner with three golden gramophones including one for “Vida la Vida” which was chosen song of the year.
