House star Hugh Laurie said he doesn’t “understand” social networking site Twitter.
Hugh, 49, said he does have a profile on the site but added that he was “bothered by the social cost of every tweet”.
He added: “As I look around my friend’s tweets, I see banality on all sides. I don’t understand the purpose of it.”
But despite the comments about the site, he admitted his pal Stephen Fry’s comments on Twitter are “the absolute best – the cream of the crop”.
Hugh said: “I think if people were able to take these 140 characters and develop a poetic Western form – a haiku of our own in which human existence could be compressed into those 140 characters – that would be a satisfying thing, but that’s not what I see when I read them.”
