Reality star Jon Gosselin was reportedly “a mess” at his daughters’ recent birthday party.
Jon, 32, turned up to the party held for twins Mady and Cara’s birthday and onlookers say he was a mess.
Jon split with wife Kate, 34, in June and the couple have eight children together and were the focus of a US reality show called Jon & Kate Plus 8.
An onlooker said to FOX411: “Jon didn’t shower or clean up for the birthday party. He looked like he was in clothes he had slept in the night before. He barely shaved and was a mess.
“He walked in with his own cake for the girls, but as Kate had promised, she made a traditional cake like she tries to do for every birthday.”
The onlooker also claims that Jon read emails from Kate to the paparazzi on his Blackberry and also left the bash to speak to the paps.
The onlooker added: “Jon is willing to talk to anyone and trust anyone. He is making a public mess out of their divorce and Kate will not participate in the mud-slinging.
“After all she saw him doing, she actually felt a little sad for him and had intended to let him spend as many hours as he wanted with the girls.
“Kate sees him falling apart and she is still so angry with him, but she is beginning to see him unravel far more than she ever will. She acted as if everything was fine in front of the kids and was very nice to Jon.”
