Jennifer Hudson is Winnie Mandela

I smell another Oscar! It has recently been announced that Jennifer Hudson will be in the new biopic ‘Winnie’, which follows the life of the former wife of Nelson Mandela. When asked about accepting the role, the singer and actress said “I was compelled and moved when I read the script. Winnie Mandela is a complex and extraordinary woman and I’m honored to be the actress asked to portray her. This is a powerful part of history that should be told.” Winnie was as much a fighter against apartheid as Nelson is. She was imprisoned for campaigning but it was her association with a man who murdered a 14-year old alleged informant that ultimately ruined her.
