Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik has said he is ’sorry’ that he introduced Tiger Woods to wife Elin Nordegren.
Parnevik, 44, commented after Woods, 33, apologised for letting his family down in a statement after allegations that he had cheated on his wife.
He said he felt he owed Woods’ wife Nordegren an apology after he introduced her to the golfing legend in 2001 when she was working as his au pair.
Talking about the alleged affairs, he said: “I would be especially sad about it – I really feel sorry for Elin – since me and my wife were at fault for hooking her up with him.
“We probably thought he was a better guy than he is. I would probably need to apologise to her.”
He added: “It’s a private thing, of course, but when you are the guy he is, the world’s best athlete, you should think more careful before you do stuff.”
