George Clooney’s new movie Up in the Air has been named best picture by the National Board of Review.

The movie has been tipped for an Oscar after it was named as best picture by the National Board of Review on December 3.

Clooney, 48, shared the prize of best actor with Morgan Freeman, 72, who won for his role as President Nelson Mandela in Invictus, which was directed by Clint Eastwood, who won best director.

British actress Carey Mulligan, 24, won best actress for her role in An Education, and Woody Harrelson, 48, was recognised for his supporting role in The Messenger and Anna Kendrick, 24, for her role in Air.
