Simon Monjack has insisted his late wife, actress Brittany Murphy “was not a drug addict”.
The British-born screenwriter again hit out at claims the Clueless star, who died on Sunday at the age of 32, had been the victim of an overdose.
He told a US newspaper: “I’m confident it wasn’t an overdose.
“She was not a drug addict.”
Murphy died after collapsing unexpectedly at her Hollywood Hills home.
US reports have claimed she had been looking particularly thin and could have been battling an eating disorder.
But Monjack, 32, rubbished the speculation, saying: “These rumours that she was anorexic? It’s crazy – she was slim, but that was her natural physique.”
Monjack, who wed Murphy in 2007, revealed his wife suffered from a heart murmur, but that it was not a life-threatening condition and did not require medication.
She is expected to be laid to rest at a funeral service on Christmas Eve in Los Angeles.
