Catherine Zeta Jones won’t watch Michael Douglas have cancer treatment

Catherine Zeta-Jones has admitted being too traumatised by husband Michael Douglas’ battle with cancer to support him at his hospital bedside. The Welsh actress says she is “furious” that her husband’s throat cancer was not detected sooner despite months of numerous tests. But she also admits that she is too overwhelmed at the thought of seeing him getting radiation and chemo, leaving him alone in New York to get treatment while she looks after their children elsewhere. “I know I should maybe be stronger, but emotionally I just don’t want to see that,” admitted 40-year-old Zeta Jones in an interview with People magazine. “But I’m right there when he comes home.” She added: “The hardest part is seeing his fatigue, because he is never tired. I’m 25 years younger than him and he wears me out.” Douglas, 65, admits he was worried about how his wife would take the news and – despite her admitted weakness in being by his side – is full of praise for her support. “You just never know what to expect from your partner – people have meltdowns,” the Wall Street star said. “But she has completely risen to the occasion.” He added: “I’m treating this as a curable disease. It’s a fight. I’ll beat this.”
