While his wife Katie Holmes stayed on in Melbourne to shoot a low-budget indie film, Cruise was spotted grooving to the strains of Beyonce at the Staples Centre.

He even knew how to do the Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) dance. An onlooker said:"Everyone was laughing and taking pictures."

Beyonce fans greeted Cruise and clapped when he arrived at the concert. He later settled near the sound booth, where he sang and danced for the rest of the show.

Holmes has taken to dancing, too, dropping in on a North Melbourne dance studio owned by a judge on So You Think You Can Dance. She will appear on the show as a contestant in a 100th- episode charity benefit that has already drawn rave reviews.

Meanwhile, Holmes’s daughter, Suri, 3 is keeping her company in Cruise’s absence.

Former US Secretary of State Colin Powell is one of a number of well-known African-Americans who has paid tribute to Michael Jackson in the run-up to the music legend’s funeral.

In between comments about Iraq, Presidents Bush and Obama, Powell told CNN that while the King of Pop was a controversial figure, his art should be celebrated.

The 72-year-old told State of the Union: “Yes, there were some challenges in his life. Yes, there was a great deal of controversy about him.

“But he’s now passed on. Let’s celebrate his art.”

Singer Beyoncé Knowles led tributes at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans.

In the middle of performing her hit song Halo, her band stopped the music, to show a home movie of the R&B singer, aged five, talking about attending a Jackson concert.

“When I saw Michael Jackson hit the stage, that’s when I decided who I wanted to be,” she then told the audience.

R&B singer-songwriter Ne-Yo – who was working on Jackson’s comeback album – told the New Orleans crowd: “I’m going to do what I can to keep the memory alive.”

Fellow singer Robin Thicke sang an acappella version of Jackson’s single, Human Nature, while comedian Steve Harvey took a break from telling jokes to call the King of Pop “the single greatest live performer of our lifetime”.

Michelle Obama has become the first First Lady to be voted on to Maxim’s Hot 100 list, eclipsing the winner, actress Olivia Wilde.

The 45-year-old mother-of-two got the seal of approval from the lads’ magazine, joining babes Megan Fox, Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé and Scarlett Johansson.

Maxim says: “He may be dealing with two wars, an economic meltdown, and a rapidly greying dome, but at least our Commander-in-Chief gets to come home to the hottest First Lady in the history of these United States. (Sorry, Martha Washington!).”

Despite being called “not a great beauty” by model Iman, Obama beat Oscar-winner Marisa Tomei and TV presenter Padma Lakshmi to win the number 93 spot.

Maxim editor-in-chief Joe Levy says that the First Lady made the list because “we merely want to acknowledge that the overall package is one of remarkable beauty, intelligence and talent”.

But Obama wasn’t “hot” enough to top the chart – a place that was reserved for Wilde, a woman 21 years her junior.

The 24-year-old native New Yorker plays a TV doctor called Dr Hadley, on House MD.

Wilde, who is pictured in black leather stockings with matching boots, her legs spread to reveal her lace panties, was chosen, according to the magazine, because “she makes our body temperatures rise”.

At the recently concluded Inauguration of the new US President Barack Obama singer Beyonce sang the song “At Last” a song originally sung by legendary singer Etta James which brought Beyonce applause from all concern but maybe the seventy one year old singer Etta James ain’t feeling the same way.

A new clip has surfaced on the internet wherein the singer has said she would “whip” Beyonce for singing “her song”. Beyonce played Etta James’s role in last year release “Cadillac Records” and sang the 1941 song.

In the words of Etta James “The great Beyonce … I can’t stand Beyonce,”. “She has no business up there, singing up there on a big ol’ president day, gonna be singing my song that I’ve been singing forever.”

Who said two women can be friends forget close friends and I cannot understand how the hell Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson are still together and putting up with all that filth every day. Something’s gonna give and wait until a few days have passed and Beyonce is going to have a go at Etta.

The singer, who previously refused to give any details on her wedding in April, admitted the following: “It was very private, and I can say outside it was paparazzi and it was madness, and inside it was really beautiful.” Beyonce also mentioned that she has vowed never to give any info on her personal life. She most likely keeps to her vows… but she must like messing with the paparazzi too. “Inside it war really beautiful?” Seriously now… this sounds more like “There’s a lot to tell but I’m not going to tell you just to screw with you”. “No comment” is the only phrase the paparazzi ever understand… even though you have to shove it down their throat as if you were loading a cannon.

Star Beyonce considers the amount she has been offered for her wedding pictures to be ridiculous and in no way would she ever agree to sell them. She said: “”But in the end, absolutely not. It’s so not worth it. If anything, if you wanna put something out, then put it out, not for (money).” It is indeed not worth it, but probably not from the same point of view as Beyonce’s. But one must admire this initiative of putting out things for free… must be why music is so cheap these days

Cosmetics giant L’Oreal was under fire last night over claims it made black star Beyonce Knowles’ skin appear white in an advert.

It seems we’re not all “worth it” after all.

The New York Post called the picture “shocking” and accused L’Oreal of making Beyonce, 26, look like a “weird, nearly white version of herself.”

And yesterday Britain’s best-selling black newspaper The Voice said it would be “disgusted” if the image had been “whitewashed”.

Editor Steve Pope said: “There is an attitude in the modelling industry that black models do not sell. Models that end up in magazines tend to be very, very light-skinned or Asian. It appears Beyonce has been the victim of that kind of attitude. If it is true, I cannot understand why anyone would want to do anything so ridiculous. It is offensive to Beyonce. It is trying to distort who she is.”

Last night L’Oreal denied any tampering.

A spokesman said: “It is categorically untrue that L’Oreal Paris altered Miss Knowles’ features or skin tone in the campaign for Feria hair colour.”

A spokesman for Beyonce — who is wed to US rapper JAY-Z, 38 — repeated L’Oreal’s statement.

Oprah Winfrey was at number one. The TV talk show queen topped the annual Forbes magazine’s Celebrity 100 list once again, beating golf superstar Tiger Woods and Hollywood beauty Angelina Jolie.

Soccer star David Beckham – who moved to Los Angeles Galaxy last July in a multi-million dollar deal – made it into the top five for the first time.

The Forbes list is designed to reflect the influence of a celebrity in any one year. It looks at how much a celebrity is paid, and how much press, internet and TV coverage they get.

While ‘Harry Potter’ author J.K. Rowling only made it to number nine, she ranked as number one in the highest earners list. The rest of the Celebrity 100 list is compiled of Johnny Depp, Jay-Z and Brad Pitt. Major stars to drop out of the prestigious list include double Oscar-winner Tom Hanks, new mom Jessica Alba and superstar singer Elton John, who was last year’s number seven.

Is the quiet newlywed Beyonce Knowles already growing a little diva or hip hop mogul inside her tummy? The New York Post is reporting that the singer is pregnant with her first child with rapper Jay-Z. The paper reports confidently that “Pals of the tight-lipped newlyweds say the songbird is expecting the couple’s first child.” Only time will tell if it’s true but a rep for Beyonce saucily responds to the story by saying “I don’t know if she’s pregnant. Let me perform an ultrasound and get back to you.” Please do. That way, we don’t have to read about any more speculations.
