House star Hugh Laurie said his character in the show is “endlessly interesting” to him.

Hugh, 50, plays the role of grumpy Dr Gregory House in the hit series and was nominated for the Best Actor Emmy for the third year in a row.

He said at the launch of the sixth season of the show: “I like lots of things about him. I think he’s funny. He’s endlessly interesting to me.

“He may not be the nicest man in the world, he may occasionally be mean but he’s never boring. At least not to me. That’s one of the things I love about him.”

However, there is one part of the character he can’t stand – his voice. He said: “The voice in particular, I don’t like it. I don’t think anyone likes the sound of their own voice.”

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has claimed he is the reason that Simon Cowell isn’t attending the Emmys.

Ryan, 32, who also presents a morning radio show on LA radio station KIIS FM, is up for the Outstanding Reality Host award at the bash and Ryan said Simon, 49, isn’t attending in case he wins the award.

He said: “Simon has placed himself as far away from Los Angeles on Emmy night as possible, just in case I happen to get lucky enough to win one.

“He’s confirmed he will be in London just so he’s not there in case of the little possibility that I walk away with it.”

However Ryan has already planned what he will do to let Simon know if he wins the award.

He said: “I’m going to celebrate by Twitpic-ing my gold statue to him.”

Winslett’s lover in the movie is played by Ralph Fiennes. She first made record when she got two Oscar nominations at the age of 22 and each year when she got nominated for the Oscars, she was able to break her own record. She has been previously nominated for the Golden Globe, the Emmy Awards, the Grammy and Screen Actors Guild Award and BAFTA and her new role will definitely harvest another set of accolades acting-wise.

While Kate developed her mass appeal in the movie “Titanic” opposite Leonardo Di Caprio, she is known for her performances in several movies including Sense and Sensibilities, Little Children, Heavenly Creatures and Iris. Her other film “Revolutionary Road” where she is reunited with Di Caprio is another Oscar contender aside from “The Reader”.

Winslett was the original choice for her role in “The Reader” but had to give it up due to her schedule. It was given to Nicole Kidman who also had problems with her schedule as she was filming “Australia” that time. When it was offered to her again she was free and the rest is history.
