Brad Pitt is becoming a superhero – for his kids.

The actor said he joined the cast of upcoming animation Oobermind because he thinks the children will like it.

But he plays a hero who has had enough of saving lives, and wants to quit the business.

He said: “I’m doing a voice for an animation film. It’s just something that they’ll enjoy. They’ll think Dad’s cool.

“I’m a superhero who wants out. I’m done.”

US television presenter Ann Curry asked him: “Is it autobiographical?”

He told American television’s The Today Show: “It’s really not. But it sounded good, didn’t it?

“It sounded like an angle.”

Brad, 45, will next be seen on screen in Inglourious Basterds, in cinemas this week.

The actor is the father of six children with Oscar-winning partner Angelina Jolie,

It follows reports that he fell asleep on the set of the flick because he was so tired from looking after his big brood.

Tina Fey and Will Ferrell are also expected to star in Oobermind, set for release next year.

It tells the story of a superhero who finds life dull after killing his arch-enemy.

Robert Downey Jr. was also reportedly set to feature but has left the project over scheduling conflicts.

In the middle of a Melbourne winter, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise relaxed in summery style after Tom Cruise checked out of their luxury hotel, the Crown Plaza.

Holmes in a bathing suit took Suri to lounge at an indoor pool, where the 3-year-old played with a blue noodle-shaped flotation device.

Mother and daughter spent time in a spa before heading to a large-sized pool where they were surrounded by children from Melbourne vacationing with their families.

Guest William Cuthbertson, just nine, said he recognised Holmes from the hit movie Batman Begins.

“Suri was tucked up against Katie’s chest and she wouldn’t show her face to us,” he said.

Holmes appeared relaxed and happy as she smiled at the other pool guests and kept Suri warm in a big fluffy towel.

Holmes will start shooting the movie Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark this month as the set is said to be under a security lockdown at the waterfront renovated area of Docklands.

Husband Cruise is believed to be planning to fly in and out of Melbourne while Holmes completes a three-month work engagement on the film.

Frank DiLeo said he was forced to break the news of the death to the star’s three children.

And he revealed he had to tell Katherine Jackson that she had lost her son.

He said the kids knew just by looking at his reaction what had happened.

He said: “They said ‘Say it’s not true’.

“I said ‘I’m sorry’.

“We all cried and they came over and we hugged and they all hugged each other.

“It is just a very sad time.”

DiLeo said he also told Katherine Jackson of her son’s death.

He told US television: “She was emotional, [she] grabbed me and squeezed me.

“We just cried together.”

DiLeo said he was able to view Jackson’s dead body in the hospital and said he kissed Jackson and told him that he loved him.

The mother of Michael Jackson’s two children is reportedly poised to take full control of them in the wake of the superstar’s death.

Debbie Rowe was understood to have given up her parental rights to Paris and Michael Joseph Jr. after a custody battle in 2005, saying the music legend was a great father.

But it’s now emerged that a technicality during the court proceedings meant that she never officially handed over those rights.

It comes despite widespread speculation that Jackson’s mother Katherine would take custody of the pair.

According to TMZ.com, retired Judge Stephen Lachs, who presided over the hearing, had initially ruled that Rowe’s rights were terminated.

However, he later reversed this decision because the American nurse had not undergone a parental fitness investigation.

Lance Spiegel, the lawyer who represented Jackson, told the website that legally, the Department of Children and Family Services must conduct such an inquiry before a person can have their parental rights terminated.

It means that under California law, Rowe is now presumed to be the person who will get custody of Michael Jnr, 12 and Paris, 11.

The only way she can be denied custody is if a court determines that this would be “detrimental to the children”.

It’s reported that Rowe intends to apply for custody, although she is likely to have a fight on her hands.

If a bid is successful, she is expected to receive hefty child support payments from the tragic musician’s estate.

Jackson, who died aged 50 on Thursday, also has a third child, Prince “Blanket” Michael II, who was born via a surrogate mother.

Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp has admitted he is happy he waited to meet Vanessa Paradis before having children.

Johnny, 46, met Vanessa in 1998 and they have two children, Lily Rose, 10, and Jack, seven.

He said: “I’m glad I didn’t have children until Vanessa and I got together.”

Johnny was previously married to make-up artist Lori Anne Allison in the Eighties but they later split.

He added: “I think when you are young, you are hoping that this person will be the right one, the one you are going to be in love with for ever, but sometimes you want that so much, you create something that isn’t really there.

“I went through a number of relationships when I was younger because of that. I was very young when I married Lori Anne and probably it was because I was trying to create a situation.

“We married in 1983, but it didn’t last very long, and that was probably because I wasn’t ready to handle such a commitment. I then got engaged to Jenny Grey, Winona Ryder and Kate Moss but it wasn’t until I met Vanessa that life started to be real.”

Crash star Thandie Newton has revealed she “took back” her life when she became a mum.

Thandie, 36, is married to screenwriter Ol Parker, and they have two daughters Ripley, eight, and Nico, four.

She said: “Becoming a mum was the single most profound, self-adjusting moment in my life.”

She added: “I birthed myself.”

Talking about her pregnancy, she said: “It’s like I took back my life.”

She added: “I took back the essence of who I am.”

Thandie, who recently starred in the Guy Ritchie flick RocknRolla, admitted that she named her older daughter after Sigourney Weaver’s character in Alien.

Asked if the rumour was true, she said: “Oh, yeah. Wouldn’t you? She is, like, the woman: kicks a**, saves the world with a kid under one arm and a huge weapon in the other.”

The Hollywood couple have six children, three of their own, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne – and three adopted, Maddox, Pax and Zahara.

The 75-year-old comedian said: "I love them because they keep adopting all these children.

"They sat at the front row of The Oscars and when Slumdog Millionaire came out, they were hoping these kids would fall off the stage.

"They were like ‘get them, take them home’.

"Then she puts them in the basement and makes clothes. She’s so smart, not all lips and eyes."

The American also joked about her husband’s suicide 17 years ago.

She said: "He killed himself. The suicide was my fault. We were making love and I took the bag off my head, I shouldn’t have done it, shouldn’t have done it.

"I get through life by laughing at everything."

Rivers also reveals she prefers older men because they have no memory.

She said: "I don’t like younger men. I like somebody older. My mother always said ‘you be the pretty one, you be the younger one’.

"Old men are great because they’re stupid and they forget. They’re rich," she added.

John Travolta has been spending time alone as he mourns the death of his son.

The actor reportedly flew to Tahiti on his own over the weekend, locking himself away to avoid other guests.

“He told the hotel manager, ‘I don’t want to see anyone. I only want to rest,’” a source told US magazine People.

The solo trip came just four days after what would have been his son Jett’s 16th birthday.

Jett, 16, died from a seizure disorder in January. Since then, John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston have kept a low profile while comforting each other and their 9-year-old daughter Ella Bleu.

Travolta, 55, reportedly flew himself to Tahiti from Australia on Saturday morning in his private Boeing 707. He stayed at the up-market InterContinental Tahiti resort in a deluxe room but was not spotted until he left the island Sunday evening.

“He is still in mourning about his son,” a family friend told People.

“This is not easy and everyone has their own process. He’s always there for his family but he is still healing.”

Hollywood stud Ben Affleck recently took his 3 year-old daughter to a restaurant and was left red faced when he got to know that he had unknowingly taught his cute little how to swear in German. It was daddy’s day out with daughter while mom Jennifer Garner stayed back home with 3 month old Seraphina.

But it all went terribly wrong when the two entered a Mexican restaurant where Ben ordered some meals which Violet spilled over her father’s pants causing Ben Affleck to swear in German. Ben was hoping his daughter wouldn’t be able to repeat the words of a foreign language but to his amazement she not only repeated the words but she actually repeated those words loudly drawing the attention of all those seated.

Here is what Ben Affleck has to say about the incident, “All the food is coming, spilling towards me. And I go, ‘Shhhhh… And I turn it around and say ’sheisse’. Why I came up with that word, I don’t know, I have not even been to Germany, but I guess that’s a German swear word in my subconscious…I thought, ‘I’ve averted disaster.’ I look over at her and she says, ‘What’s sheisse? Why did you say sheisse?”

Barely a month after their lavish wedding ceremony in Malibu, Fergie and husband Josh Duhamel are experiencing their first bout of marital woes. The conflict stemmed from Josh’s desire to have a baby versus Fergie’s insistence that she is not yet ready to become pregnant. Fergie, who is enjoying a successful career, seems not just ready to put her career on hold yet in favor of a baby even if she known how important that is for her husband. The couple however found a common ground so they are now planning to adopt. This way, Josh gets his baby, Fergie can continue with her career and they can both start a family.

Reports that the two were planning to build a family came after the Black Eyed Peas singer told people at the Los Angeles International Airport that she was pregnant with twins. In fairness to the two it really seems a bit early to discuss baby issues considering that they are just back from their honeymoon which took them to the Maldives and the Bahamas. It was not all play for 33-year old Fergie though as she participated in the MJCI Charity Celebration Galas held at the Atlantis Resort. The 36-year old Duhamel was also seen teeing for Michael Jordan’s Celebrity Invitational Tournament on the island. Work or play, the couple went home with a smile on their faces and a nice tan on their bodies.

Tupper, who is living with the 39-year old Heche in their Vancouver home, was all praises for the actress whom he said was so dedicated and hardworking. The two came out in the open after Heche’s divorce with Laffoon was finalized. However, Heche paid a stiff price for the divorce as the court ruled for payment of $275,000 to Laffoon plus $3,700 for child support.

Heche has however filed a petition in court to suspend the monthly payments to her ex-husband saying she is presently unemployed and is without any means to continue paying the spouse and child support worth $15,000 per month. Men In Trees was a short-lived TV drama so Heche has to look for work somewhere else. Her prospects are however not so positive considering the Screen Actors Guild strike and the recession. A judge ruled that Heche need not pay the next scheduled payment but she was asked to show proof by submitting her financial statement to the court.

Actor Ben Stiller and his wife Christine Taylor have to kids and they are not thinking of adding to their family. The “Night At A Museum” star has said that he is quite happy raising their two children but do not plan to have any further kids.

Ben said: “Our kids are ridiculously cute and every moment is a joy and a wonderful challenge that people who have kids can only understand. It’s the best but I’m happy where we’re at right now.”

Christine – who was Ben’s co-star in the movie ‘Zoolander’ that was released in the year 2001, on her part said: “Two children is a handful! I feel very fortunate and blessed. Two is enough for now. Three’s off.”

Well doesn’t matter if they are 2, 3 or even 1 or even more like Brad & Angelina but what’s really important is that you are able to give time to your children and parents would find it wonderful to see their kids grow, learn and play. That’s a real blessing.

Heidi Klum says Seal is a “wonderful daddy”. The supermodel insists her singer husband is a fantastic father to the three children they raise together.

Heidi – who has two sons, two-year-old Henry and 19-month-old Johan, with Seal, and a four-year-old daughter Leni from a previous relationship – revealed: “Seal is a wonderful daddy. He never minded changing diapers, he loves to sing lullabies and he’s always 100 per cent there. We have that in common as parents.”

The blonde beauty also revealed she thinks her family is so strong because they communicate with each other. She said: “When I was younger my parents, brother and I would talk to each other about what we did during the day. It’s important to try to keep that in a family.”

Sheryl Crow says having breast cancer helped her discover her true self. The ‘All I Wanna Do’ singer – who was diagnosed with the potentially fatal disease in 2006 – was shocked when she got the news as she had always been so healthy but says it completely changed her outlook on life.

Sheryl – who adopted a baby son Wyatt after getting the all-clear at the end of 2006 – told Australia’s Courier Mail newspaper: “I’ve really learned it’s the experiences that take you far off your course that really help you to learn who you are.

“I’m not sure whether cancer made me a better person, but it definitely made me more of an awake person. When I was diagnosed, everything came to a screeching halt and I needed to take a good look at my life. It forced me to experience everything that was going on, from grief and anger to sadness and fear. We all get to the point where we really adhere to the art of distraction.”

Meanwhile, Sheryl is set to record a song for the US Olympic team. She will join Nelly and other artists on the soundtrack, which will be featured during NBC and Telemundo broadcasts of the Beijing Olympic Games next month.

Proceeds from the accompanying album, which will be available to download, will benefit the US Olympic team.

Jerry Hall’s son has threatened to kill himself if she gets a boyfriend. The former model – who split from 10-year-old Gabriel’s father, Rolling Stone Mick Jagger, in 1999 – has revealed her son doesn’t want her to start dating again.

She said: “Gabriel gets very angry with me if I work too much. He absolutely hates the idea of me having a boyfriend. He says, ‘If you get a boyfriend, I will kill myself.’ I say to him, ‘But darling, you will grow up and get married one day and it would be nice for mum to have some company.’”

Jerry also revealed it isn’t just her love-life her children have an influence on. Her 16-year-old daughter Georgia has banned her 51-year-old mother from wearing miniskirts.

Jerry – who is auctioning several of her outfits, including her wedding dress, in aid of charity Emmaus – added: “Georgia says I can’t wear miniskirts anymore. When she was younger, she was always the one who said, ‘Mum, you can’t go out wearing that, it’s too sexy.’ Children basically want you to stay home and be miserable, don’t they?”

Jerry has two other children with Mick, 24-year-old Elizabeth and James, 22. The couple were married for 14 years, but it was annulled after they split in 1999 when it was revealed the Hindu ceremony, which took place in Bali, wasn’t legally recognised in the UK.
