2012 star Thandie Newton said she has ‘never dated an actor’ and stopped using her sexuality as a tool in relationships a long time ago.

Newton, 37, married writer Ol Parker in 1998 and they have two young daughters together: Ripley and Nico.

The RocknRolla star appears in the new disaster movie 2012 alongside John Cusack, but she said she has never had a relationship with another actor.

She said to UK magazine In Style: “I’ve never dated an actor, just had the odd fling. Isn’t that weird?

“I don’t flirt with people – a long time ago, I stopped using my sexuality to have a relationship with people.

“I don’t think you really get a sense of me, sexually, and that’s why I have really great relationships with straight men.”

The 45-year-old actress, who found fame in the 1983 movie Flashdance, is to star in Hallmark Channel’s original family flick.

The film is about what happens when Santa Claus accidentally leaves the North Pole a day early and crashes on to a family’s roof.

Production on the movie has already started shooting in Toronto and will premiere on Hallmark Channel next year.

Beals used to star in Showtime’s The L Word but after its run concluded, she appeared in Fox’s Lie to Me and will also star in The Book of Eli.

Charlize Theron is set to star in the new Mad Max movie.

The actress has signed on to appear in the fourth instalment of the post-apocalyptic sci-fi flick, according to US reports.

Also joining the cast of Mad Max: Fury Road is British actor Tom Hardy.

The flick is set to start filming in Australia next August.

It is not known if Mel Gibson – who found fame in the original 1979 film – will appear in the sequel.

The last Mad Max film, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, was released in 1985.

The trilogy is set in a dystopian future world ruled by violent gangs.

Actor Daniel Craig is likely to play James Bond in the next 007 movie, letting slip the reprisal will start filming next year.

Chatting to fans after a Broadway performance of A Steady Rain with Hugh Jackman, the UK heart-throb let slip the follow-up to the 2008 James Bond film Quantum Of Solace will begin shooting next year – ahead of any announcement by MGM.

The next movie is reportedly titled Bond 23 and has Craig and Judi Dench attached with no director signed on to date.

MGM, meanwhile, had no comment. Quantum Of Solace grossed $586million worldwide and Casino Royale grossed $594million.

Craig’s production with Jackman meanwhile is drawing rave reviews. The leading men were seen at the show’s opening with Deborra-Lee Furness, Jackman’s wife, and Craig’s partner Satsuki Mitchell.

A Hollywood director has hailed Matt Damon for being easy to work with.

Steven Soderbergh, best known for Sex, Lies and Videotape, said he needed an actor who was fast on his feet for the upcoming comic thriller The Informant! He said Damon, whom he directed in Ocean’s Eleven, was an instant choice for a part that required a substantial weight gain.

“In this case, having worked with him was a huge benefit because we had to move so quickly. It was such an odd story and it required a certain kind of performance,” Soderbergh said at the movie’s London premiere.

“I think an actor I’d never worked with before – if they showed up and saw on the call sheet that they had to do eight pages that day – that they might be a little upset, whereas Matt knows that’s just the way we work. There’s no question that our history helped make this a smooth operation.”

Damon piled on an astonishing 13.6kg for the part of whistleblower Mark Whitacre. Soderbergh says Damon revelled in the transformation. “He puts on 30 pounds, he puts on the fake hair, the moustache, the glasses and the suit – you don’t really have to do much more than thinking about your character when physically you feel and look like that. So I think he really had fun doing it – he looked like he had fun.”

Movie star Uma Thurman says Quentin Tarantino’s idea for the plot of the third installment of Kill Bill is “awesome”.

The Inglourious Basterds director recently announced plans to make a much-anticipated sequel to the 2003 and 2004 blockbusters, to be released in 2014.

And his star actress, who plays a revenge-seeking bride in the violent flicks, has now spoken about her discussions with the legendary movie-maker.

She told MTV: “We did chat. He has not yet finished the script. I don’t even really know if he’s really started it, although I got a taste of some of his ideas and they are really good.

“He has started to share with me what he was thinking, and it’s awesome.”

Despite her excitement, Thurman, 39, had previously admitted that she was wary about taking on any action roles post-Kill Bill.

Oscar-winner Theron has reportedly dropped out of The Tourist and the Tomb Raider star has now been linked to the role.

Fresh off an action-heavy part in Salt, and with apparently no commitments in the near future, Jolie would fit in well to the project.

A remake of a French thriller, the film centres on an American tourist who, on behalf of Interpol, goes undercover to entrap a former lover who is a suspected global criminal.

Her role would be one-part seductress and one-part action, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She will star alongside Terminator: Salvation’s Sam Worthington.

The project, which originally had Tom Cruise set as the male lead, is also seeking a new director after Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day Helmer Bharat Nalluri dropped out.

The film up to now had been set for an early 2010 release.

Speaking on Italian TV, the idiosyncratic director announced his desire to make a third “volume” of the revenge drama.

But he stressed he wants to wait for a decade to elapse between Kill Bill 2 and 3.

He said: “Yes, The Bride will fight again.”

Kill Bill 1 was made in 2003, while Kill Bill 2 followed in 2004 – making the possible Kill Bill 3 due in 2014.

But Tarantino, who has been enjoying a comeback with Inglourious Basterds, gave a definitive “no” to any sequel of Pulp Fiction.

Tarantino brought Brad Pitt on board for Inglourious, which has been wowing audiences the world over.

Prison Break star Wentworth Miller is to appear in the fourth Resident Evil film, according to co-star Boris Kodjoe.

Boris, 36, has signed up to appear in the fourth film in the franchise, Resident Evil: Afterlife, opposite Milla Jovovich, who will reprise her role as Alice in the horror flick by director Paul W.S Anderson.

Talking about his role in the film, Boris said to Blackfilm.com: “I play the leader of the survivors in LA. Milla Jovovich’s character, Alice, is roaming the world looking for survivors and she’s wound up in LA, which has been burning for three years.”

Boris added that the cast are shooting the flick in Toronto and he then talked about the other stars that are signed up to appear.

He said: “It’s gonna be Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, I’m the new one, and Wentworth Miller is also in the movie. He’s the lead in Prison Break.”

Talking about Wentworth’s character, he said: “Yes. He’s playing a guy that we actually locked up when we took over the jail because we weren’t sure if he was one of them or not.

“He comes into play as we try to find a way to get out with our survivors.”

Bridget Jones star Renee Zelleweger will reportedly wear a fat suit for the third film in the series.

Renee, 40, previously put on 30lbs of weight for the role of podgy Bridget in the last two movies and she did that by eating pizza and peanut butter sandwiches.

However, it has now been claimed that the star wants to keep her slim figure and will be wearing a padded outfit for the role in Bridget Jones 3 instead.

A source said to Britain’s Reveal magazine: “Renee will be wearing a fat suit in the third film as it took her a while to lose the weight last time.

“She’s also thinking about the effect quickly putting on an then losing 30lb has on her body.”

Hollywood actress Julia Roberts will be shooting in a cow shed for her new movie Eat, Pray, Love.

Roberts, 41, recently flew to Delhi, India, to start filming on the new flick and it is claimed she will be shooting the film in an ashram, which features a cownshed where “cows are looked after with great care”.

Roberts will be shooting at the Ashram Harimandir in Pataudi, which is 660km from India’s capital Delhi.

Hindus are reportedly concerned about how their religion will be portrayed in the movie.

Bourne star Matt Damon has signed up to appear in Clint Eastwood’s new flick Hereafter.

Eastwood, 79, is directing and producing the new thriller for Warner Bros, which will start shooting later in the fall.

Details of the flick are being kept a secret with Warner Bros describing it as a thriller in the vein of The Sixth Sense.

Steven Spielberg is executive-producing the film, along with Frank Marshall, Peter Morgan, who also wrote the script, and Tim Moore.

Damon, 38, can be seen currently starring in flick The Informant by Steven Soderbergh and later this year, will appear in Eastwood’s movie Invictus, opposite Morgan Freeman.

Tom Cruise was one of the A-list Hollywood actors who sought to replace Heath Ledger in his final movie, it was revealed.

Cruise lobbied for a part in The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus, which was directed by Terry Gilliam. Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell were cast as a trio to fill the vast shoes of the late Australian actor, who died suddenly in January 2008.

Gilliam told a film magazine: “I’m not sure if it was Tom or his agent. I know there was a period when Tom’s agents were keen. The thing is, I was only interested in people who were friends of Heath. Simple as that. I wanted to keep it in the family.”

Gilliam also revealed that some parts of the movie were not possible to complete without Ledger. “Some scenes we couldn’t do because Heath wasn’t there. And I was like, ‘The bastard’s directing this film! He’s telling me what I can and can’t do!’ The film is better for these things. That’s why I said at one point I wanted him to be co-director on the film.”

Courteney Cox has found her groove with Cougar Town. The 45-year-old television actress said she is more enthusiastic about the series than anything she has ever done.

Cox plays a divorced mother trying to find love in Florida. She said: “I hope this show is a huge hit and that people love it. Because I like playing this character more than any character I’ve ever played.”

Bill Lawrence, co-creator of Cougar with Kevin Biegel, said Cox’s character, Jules, is built around her real-life personality. Lawrence said: “I wanted her to be like Courteney. If you talk to Courteney when she’s off-guard, or when she’s being herself, she’s incredibly frank, she’s incredibly brassy. Very opinionated, very self-deprecating. But at heart she’s still a goofball.”

Award-winning British drama Prime Suspect is to be remade for the US – with a younger actress in the lead.

The series, written by Lynda La Plante and starring Oscar-winner Helen Mirren as police chief Jane Tennison, ran between 1991 and 2006.

“Our intention is to create another classic television show from this brilliant original format,” said Angela Bromstad, of American television network NBC.

Prime Suspect first aired in the US in 1992 as part of the Mystery series. The show went on to win two Emmys for lead actress Mirren – making her a household name in America.

Writer Hank Steinberg, known for his work on hit drama Without A Trace, intends to “make [Tennison] a little bit younger”, Bromstad added.
