Actor Mickey Rourke has credited his five dogs for getting him through the dark periods of his life.

The 57-year-old actor had a high-flying acting career during the 80s but then turned down lead roles and ended up losing credibility when he made a number of bad movie choices.

He said: “My dogs really helped me get through the dark times. I lost everything at the same time – my wife, my career, my house, my credibility – and all I had left was the dogs plus just two or three people who stuck with me.

“I was living under the mat – being known and then being known for being out of work, for having fallen from grace.

“You go and buy a pack of smokes and people say: ‘Hey, didn’t you used to be that actor?’ So it was a very shameful place, and the dogs [he has had eight chihuahuas] were my friends.

“A lot of people you meet out there turn their backs on you once you’re down, but the dogs don’t. The one dog I loved, Loki, died last year, and she is deeply missed but with me in spirit.”

Entourage star Jeremy Piven has opened up about his mercury poisoning controversy, saying: “Everybody loves a good fish story.”

The actor, who plays Ari Gold on the HBO and ITV2 hit, bowed out of his lead role in the Broadway production of David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow late last year after complaining of severe bouts of fatigue.

Piven said at the time the illness was caused by mercury poisoning from eating fish for 20 years, but sceptical producers – who sued the star for breach of contract – suggested his penchant for staying out late at night more likely caused his fatigue.

Piven appeared on the Late Show With David Letterman to put his side of the story forward, days after a New York judge sided with him at an arbitration hearing

Piven said: “I ended up in the hospital – I spent three days there. A cardiologist told me I had a resting heart rate of 47 and I had arrhythmia and elevated levels of mercury.

“He told me you can’t go back. I had a decision at that moment either to take his advice or to say, ‘Screw you, I’m going to jump back on that stage.’

“This kind of turned into I ate a bad piece of Yellowtail and bolted!

“I think everyone loves a good fish story.”

Piven said he is now feeling better having abstained from fish for a whole year.

The 32-year-old Irish actor, who will soon return in a new series of the hit show, said: “I can’t understand why anyone would want to be king. It’s such a difficult, tiring job. It’s a tiring job playing him.”

Meyers also hit back at those who have criticised his portrayal of the monarch: “We’re not making a documentary for universities. It’s all a fantasy. If we did everything Henry did, it couldn’t be on TV because it would be way too boring.

“Henry went through three or four hours of ceremonies every morning just eating breakfast and going to the bathroom.

“And remember, Henry VIII was the first king to put a bath in his castle. They were not the cleanest of people. It may look fabulous in high-definition on a 68-inch screen, but in reality it was a very dirty, stinky, syphilitic age.”

Movie hardman Jason Statham shows off his six-pack on the cover of a US magazine – but claims his mum is tougher than he is.

The Brit actor admits he knows some “lethal tricks” but reckons his mum could be deadly with her frying pan.

Statham said: “People do wonder if I could kill somebody. I know my mum could because she’s really good with a frying pan. Actually, the thought of it makes me rather queasy.

“But I know some lethal tricks.

“I could show a girl how to put a stranglehold on a guy and, basically, stop his blood supply.

“You pass out and the next thing you know, as we say in London, ‘You’re brown bread.’”

Statham also is relieved thugs don’t try to pick fights with him to see how tough he really is.

He said: “People don’t tend to test me on that kind of thing. Thank God, because the last thing I want is a punch-up every time I go out for a nice sociable drink.

“I try to stay away from pubs that are frequented by hooligans.”

A transcript of the heart-wrenching call made by boxer Mike Tyson’s girlfriend to paramedics after finding their daughter Exodus hanging from a treadmill has been released.

In the graphic 911 tape, the girlfriend, who is believed to share a house with Tyson in Phoenix, Arizona, can be heard crying as she tries to tell the fire department what her emergency is.

She is heard saying: “Yes, my baby, she’s choked! She has the… The thing from the… ”

“My baby choked from the treadmill thing! Please!”

The dispatcher talks her through CPR before she tells him she knows how to perform it.

But then she tells the dispatcher that she cannot do it because Exodus had blood in her mouth.

She can be heard on the tape telling him: “There’s a lot of fluids in her mouth.”

The dispatcher asks: “Fluids in her mouth?” and she replied: “YES! Blood.”

The fire dispatcher then asks: “Can you turn her… Can you turn her on her side?”

She tells him: “YES!” as he then tells her: “Okay, and try and get that blood to drain out, okay?”

She then asks: “Should I throw her down like – like her back? On her back?”

But the dispatcher just instructs her: “Just turn her over, turn her over til her… ”

She says: “Should I do CPR on her?” and the dispatcher says: “Yeah, I’m going to tell you how to do CPR.” But she informs him: “I know how to do it!”

He then adds: “Okay, I want you to go ahead and the blood outta there as best as you can and then I want you to start CPR on her.”

Tyson’s girlfriend then starts performing CPR until the paramedics and police arrive.

Exodus was rushed to a hospital and put on a life-support machine but died a short time later.

Reservoir Dogs star Tim Roth has made the shocking revelation that he was abused as a child.

The Brit actor opened up in an interview with the Daily Mail newsaper and revealed he had been abused from his childhood into his early teens but insists the abuser was not his mum or his dad.

Roth said: “I’m a victim of child abuse. It happened during my childhood up to my early teens and although I’m not going to say who it was, he’s long gone now – and I hasten to add it wasn’t my father or mother.

“Things happen to you in your life but you don’t want to consider yourself to be a victim – you want to be a survivor, and the first thing that helps you do that and helps you get through it is speaking and finding your voice.

“I’d been wanting to direct a film for years and told my agent to start looking for a script.

“The first one that came through the door was the one for The War Zone.

“If you are a survivor of abuse and you get the opportunity to tell a story about that subject, then you can really get in there and tell the truth.

“It was a fantastic chance for me to exorcise a lot of demons. I’m very proud of the film and proud of the fact that it’s even been used as a teaching tool.”

Robin Williams is taking some much needed rest but that is only because the comedian and actor is recovering from a heart surgery which his doctors say was carried out successfully. The actor is currently taking rest at a hospital in Cleveland.

A heart surgery to replace an aortic value was conducted upon Robin Williams on March 13 at the Cleveland Clinic. The recovery time has been set for 8 weeks post which the actor can start performing normal functions if all goes well.

Initially Robin Williams received medical treatment at the University of Miami Hospital after which he was shifted to Cleveland. Earlier in the month he complained of shortness of breath and subsequently canceled his one-man comedy show, “Weapons of Self-Destruction.”

This man is a great actor and who can forget his roles in movies like Jumanji and Mrs. Doubtfire plus many others so we can all just hope that he recovers soon and is backing doing what he does best that is making people laugh.

The actress has recently revealed how she intends to discipline her children when she will have a family. Rosario Dawson wants to use the same method her mother used for her when she misbehaved: “I think licking is a really great way of disciplining your child. It’s definitely a lot better than screaming at them. My mom did it to me for punishment, she loves to say that I came from her so she can do anything that she wants to me in public. If I was acting out or talking up or just being a precocious child as I was she would lick me on my face in front of all her friends.” Quite the original method, I have to admit. But what will Rosario Dawson do until her children reach the age when that method actually becomes effective. I doubt a four year old would really find it as a very shameful experience to be licked in public.

Comedy star and versatile actor Robin Williams is to undergo heart surgery and thus he has postponed the remainder of his comedy tour. His ill health was diagnosed after the actor complained of shortness of breath.

A rep of the star has confirmed that Robin has a heart condition and will “undergo surgery for an aortic valve replacement.” Robin also released a statement on part despite being in hospital wherein he has said: “I’m so touched by everyone’s support and well wishes. This tour has been amazing fun and I can’t wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up.”

In the past 3 weeks this man has put up 11 shows now if that is not hard work then I do not know what is but in all this time I think Robin despite being a successful Hollywood star feels financially insecure or else he would not be pushing so hard.

Hollywood legend Paul Newman was conferred upon a posthumous honor by the US House of Representatives who unanimously passed a resolution honouring the late actor’s life and achievements.

Steve Cohen, a Democrat from the state of Tennessee introduced the move to honor the late actor’s achievements on the floor of the house in Washington which was unanimously passed in the house.

That’s really nice to know that the US House of Representatives has the time to remember the great work done by Paul Newman during his life time although there are other matter that the country is looking up to them to resolve soon.

It is also so typical of our politicians that they are always good in remembering the contribution made by people in areas other than politics but the timing of the recognition is mostly when that person is longer with us. But that of course does not take away anything from the greatness of this actor. Only highlights how lethargic our politicians are!

Fans of Fast and the Furious star Paul Walker need not worry about reports that he and his 19-year old girlfriend Jasmine Pilchard-Gosnell are tying the knot over the holidays. Apparently, the holidays are over but no wedding bells have chimed for Walker and Gosnell so there. The two, who has been dating since Jasmine was 16 years old, are however still together but have no plans to wed soon. This was confirmed by Walker’s representative Ame Van Iden who simply said it’s “not true”.

The rumors may have been fueled when 35-year old Walker and Gosnell were spotted during a vacation in Maui. Walker’s 10-year old daughter Meadow stays in Maui with her mother Rebecca and the couple went there so Walker could introduce Jasmine to his daughter. This is at least evident about how serious their relationship is. Walker and Gosnell have been a couple for three years now so there may be plans to tie the know but definitely not in the near future since. Walker has also starred in Eight Below, Running Scared and Joy Ride.

Lisa Loeb just got married with ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien’ music coordinator Roey Hershkovitz last Saturday in New York. The couple has been dating since 2006. Congratulations to the happy couple! I didn’t even know that the singer got engaged, much less planning for a wedding, much less already married. I wonder if they have any plans on having a family. I bet Lisa could pop out some cute babies. She can add to the whole Hollywood baby boom. The world needs more cute babies to look at as a distraction from the whole economic crisis. There can never be too many.

Jewish comedienne Roseanne Barr has blasted Israel for its role in the on going war against terrorist outfit Hamas that has claimed hundreds of lives in the Gaza strip. She voiced her anger and concern in a series of rants on her blog and radio show.

The outspoken star wrote on her blog saying, “Israel is a Nazi state,” before telling listeners of her California radio show on Tuesday, “Israel has enough money to pay each and every Palestinian to not shoot at them.”

That’s the least you can expect from the Hollywood left. Why, wasn’t some years ago that Vanessa Redgrave stood up at some Hollywood function and nearly kissed Yassar Arafat’s backside with a litany supporting the PLO and the Arab community vis – a – vis Israel?

Speaking of which, has anyone seen the protest of the Israeli’s response to the Hamas air strikes, where in Miami, on television a few days ago, some Arab women dressed in traditional Arab clothing were chanting “Go back to the ovens!” to people who were attending a Holocaust memorial event? That ’s pretty sick.

What is it with our actors that they simply love to be in the news for all the wrong reasons? If ever an actor was asked to sincerely reply to this question they would be as dumb founded as if a question about the history of America was posed to them.

Actor Matt Dillon has been charged by the Vermont State Police for speeding on an interstate highway. The highway has a speed limit of 65 miles per hour but Matt must have had an appointed with President elect Obama or something more important which made him travel at a speed of 106 miles per hour.

Maybe he was breaking in a V-8. Could have been that his brake paddle broke and the guy just couldn’t stop the car and the car ferociously ran through entire Vermont. Those who are thinking if that were the case how did he survive, well folks that’s a completely different story which I tell you once I am back from the holiday break.

Dennis Quaid and his wife have agreed to a $750,000 settlement with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for an overdosing incident a year ago that nearly cost his infant twins their lives.
I see the good in this (surprise!), you see if they still take this to court, they would be spending more time in court and less time with the kiddies!
It was also reported that part of the settlement Cedars-Sinai admits no wrongdoing.
The Quaids also sued Baxter Healthcare Corp. in Illinois, which produces the blood thinner Heparin, for faulty labeling, but that case was dismissed.
I say, pay what needs to be paid and focus on the children’s growth and health? I say 750 grand is enough!
