Sean Penn has had a meeting with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, discussing a possible movie about an American anthropologist.

Chavez said the pair met privately and discussed making a movie out of the 1953 novel The Lost Steps by Cuban writer Alejo Carpentier. The book tells the tale of an American composer and anthropologist who journeyed into the jungle.

Actor/director Penn arrived in Venezuela from Cuba, where he had gone as a journalist to reportedly seek an interview with ailing Fidel Castro, 83, for Vanity Fair magazine.

Chavez said the pair discussed politics and Penn told him he would soon have a meeting with US President Barack Obama. Chavez said he had asked Penn to tell Obama he should take action to earn his Nobel peace prize and halt plans for the US military to increase its presence at Colombian bases.

“They gave him the Nobel Prize – very well, now he should earn it,” Chavez told The Associated Press.

French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy took to the web to publicise her charity work, launching a website that allows viewers into her world at the grand Elysee Palace.

Bruni, who has a separate musical career, was a successful model and pop star before marrying Nicolas Sarkozy.

The website, www.carlabrunisarkozy.org, was inundated with visitiors and had to shut down. It focuses on Bruni’s role as ambassador for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and her work with the underprivileged in France.

Bruni has another website for her musical endeavours, which recently included strumming a guitar and performing Bob Dylan peace-minded classics.

Sarkozy, meanwhile, proved himself to be no slouch, announcing he would track his movements at the climate change conference in Copenhagen via Twitter.

At one stage, Chavez took a photographer’s camera to snap a shot of himself and threw a flower. He was accompanied by Oliver Stone who directed South of the Border, a documentary about making a trip to visit Chavez and pushing through prejudice.

Chavez made nothing less than a dramatic landing at the Venice Lido in a carabinieri helicopter. He suffers from sea sickness and would not take a boat.

Full of praise for Stone, who was himself radiant, Chavez declared:”Rebirth is happening in Latin America and Stone went to look for it and he found it. With his cameras and his genius, he’s captured a good part of that rebirth.”

Stone for his part said he made the movie to address the idea that Latin America was not democratic and misinformation in the press. “If you look now, there are seven presidents, eight countries with Chile, that are really moving away from the Washington consensus control. But in America, they don’t get that story.”

Brad Pitt joked that he IS running for political office, saying: “I’m running on the ‘gay marriage, no religion, legalisation of marijuana’ platform.”

Pitt’s possible political aspirations came under the spotlight with his charity push to help rebuild New Orleans with affordable green houses.

He has become such a figure of pride for the city a popular t-shirt is sold: ‘Brad Pitt for Mayor.’

Asked if he would run and if he would serve, Brad said ‘Yeah’ both times with a straight face.

But he made it clear he wasn’t being serious: “I’m running on the ‘gay marriage, no religion, legalisation and taxation of marijuana’ platform. I wouldn’t stand a chance.”

Asked if he was being coy and would consider running, Brad insisted: “I don’t have a chance. No way. It’s not what I do best.”

Brad seemed uncomfortable when asked about his personal life, including a recent interview in which he said his definition of love is “when someone else’s interest trumps your own”.

“I stand by that,” Brad said. “Some day, it won’t always be there – I don’t look forward to that day. The greater the love, the greater the loss.”

Hollywood actor Brad Pitt was offered a T-shirt bearing an illustration of his face next to the slogan ‘Brad Pitt for Mayor?’ during a US television interview.
The shirt is part of a grass-roots effort to get the Mr & Mrs Smith star elected as the next leader of embattled US city, New Orleans. The city will go to the polls to choose a new mayor in April 2010.
Brad, 45, helped set up the Make It Right foundation which aims to rebuild parts of the city devastated by Hurricane Katrina and support victims of the damage.
And he has worked hard to keep the city’s plight in the headlines since the 2005 hurricane.
But it is not known if he is a fan of the idea – because the T-shirt clip was only shown as a teaser for the full interview, to be broadcast later in the week.
By going into politics Brad would be following in the footsteps of former actor Ronald Reagan – who ended up becoming the 40th President of the United States in 1981, and one-time Hollywood action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is now the Governor of California.
The full interview with Brad will be shown on American television’s The Today Show on Thursday.
Interviewer and host Ann Curry said: “He said a lot of sweet things about his family.
“They are very private and I respect that.”

Supporters of Brad Pitt entering politics have added a T-shirt shop in New Orleans to their ranks. The owner of Storyville, Josh Harvey, says the first “Brad Pitt for Mayor” T-shirt has been designed and is on sale at his store.

Harvey said a local movement to put Pitt into the mayor’s job, one that was made highly controversial in the wake of the 2005 Hurricane Katrina disaster, is sounding “less and less crazy”.

Pitt took a personal interest in flood victims and the Big Easy, making The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in the city. The T-shirt featuring him was designed by a Tulane University professor who invited the store to use the motif.

“Brad Pitt is someone who’s really done a lot for the City of New Orleans and the more people are talking about it, it sounds less and less crazy, especially with Governor [Arnold] Schwarzenegger and Al Franken about to be sworn in as the US senator from Minnesota,” Harvey said.

The store owner said a portion of the proceeds from the Pitt sales goes toward the actor’s Make It Right Foundation, which sells its own line of T-shirts, baseball caps and other items to fund new homes.

Jewish comedienne Roseanne Barr has blasted Israel for its role in the on going war against terrorist outfit Hamas that has claimed hundreds of lives in the Gaza strip. She voiced her anger and concern in a series of rants on her blog and radio show.

The outspoken star wrote on her blog saying, “Israel is a Nazi state,” before telling listeners of her California radio show on Tuesday, “Israel has enough money to pay each and every Palestinian to not shoot at them.”

That’s the least you can expect from the Hollywood left. Why, wasn’t some years ago that Vanessa Redgrave stood up at some Hollywood function and nearly kissed Yassar Arafat’s backside with a litany supporting the PLO and the Arab community vis – a – vis Israel?

Speaking of which, has anyone seen the protest of the Israeli’s response to the Hamas air strikes, where in Miami, on television a few days ago, some Arab women dressed in traditional Arab clothing were chanting “Go back to the ovens!” to people who were attending a Holocaust memorial event? That ’s pretty sick.

If you are like me, then I’m pretty sure you are wondering how our politicians look like when their not in or running for office.
I mean, how they run their households and live their personal lives are a good representation of how they will run their office. Am I right?

While celebrating the success of his presidential campaign, he called his wife Michelle as “the rock of our family and the love of my life.”

What a beautiful way to express one’s gratitude to his better-half!

Obama also rewarded his two daughters – Malia and Sasha, by saying, “You have earned the new puppy that’s coming with us to the White House.”

So it is not only the success of one man but in fact it is the triumph of a unit – called “FAMILY”.

This year’s Halloween got more spirit from the upcoming US Presidential Elections 2008.

The effect of the Elections could have easily been observed when the super model Heidi Klum was spotted walking around, hand in hand with Presidential candidate Barack Obama on October 31 in New York City.

However on inquiry it was revealed that the muscular Obama was in fact Heidi Klum’s lovely and handsome hubby Seal. Mr. Seal was wearing a Obama mask.

The couple was also sporting the badges to support the campaign of Barack Obama.

The real Obama must have found it hard to swallow that some other Obama is roaming around with such a hottie and not him.

He even might have dreamed of moving with Heidi Klum hand in hand. There is no limit for imagination, at least.

Rapper Eve has got this election under her thumb. Or should I say on her thumb? At the fancy opening party for Mobile Art: Chanel Contemporary Art Container in Central Park which was held recently, everyone was dressed to the nines, sporting stylish accessories. Eve was stylish as usual. I can name a lot of things that looked great on her that night. In my opinion, the best accessory was on Eve’s thumbnail. Her nail was decorated with a portrait of Barack Obama. She obviously gives the Democratic Presidential candidate a big thumbs up. The election is just mere days away people. Don’t forget to vote!

According to new reports, Federal agents have broken up a white supremacist plot to assassinate presidential candidate Barack Obama AND shoot or decapitate 102 black people in Tennessee.
It’s the new millennium but we never grow up. p
Jim Cavanaugh, who is a special agent in charge of the Nashville field office for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said that they nabbed two men who planned to shoot 88 black people and decapitate another 14.
The numbers 88 and 14 are apparently symbolic in the white supremacist community.
Cavanaugh went on to say as their last and final ‘act’, “…that they would attempt to kill Senator Obama… They didn’t believe they would be able to do it, but that they would get killed trying.”
Peace and love. That’s what we need.
Like I said, ignorance is not an excuse.

The answer can be Oprah Winfrey, Britney Spears, Jimmy Kimmel, Paris Hilton, Keeley Hazell or may be another thousand sexy and stunning models, actors and actresses, but all these answers are virtually WRONG.

The most-popular TV personality of present day is the vice-presidential candidate Governor Sarah Palin.

By appearing once on the American television’s “Saturday Night Live”, she has taken to the show to the new heights of popularity and fame.

I think that she should seriously consider her career on television in case she fails to force her way into the office of the Vice-President of the most-powerful country of the world.

The Grammy winner singer James Taylor has announced five free concerts in North Carolina to support the Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Probably it is another way to get close to the future Mr President – who knows, America might select a black man as their president next month.

Instead of trying fruitlessly at the time after Obama sits on the chair, sleeps in the White House and becomes inaccessible, it is best to mend your terms with him now by contributing more charity to support his campaign.

James Taylor has done such free concerts in the past as well to highlight political candidates in the state.

The Sweet Baby James star will encourage Obama supporters to come out in the streets to vote at the day of election.

Taylor’s help may prove vital for Obama in North Carolina, where no Democratic candidate has recorded a majority since 1976.
