The new bill will increase the number of full-service community schools across the country.

Oscar-winning actor Matt Damon has visited India as part of his work with the H2O Africa Foundation and been hailed by its Hindu people.

Damon, 38, co-founded the foundation in 2006, which aims to raise awareness about clean water initiatives.

The foundation has already set up projects in countries such as Uganda, Central African Republic, Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Niger.

It is claimed Damon plans to set up a similar project in India after he visited Delhi and Chennai.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed has praised Damon’s efforts to ensure people around the world receive clean water and Zed has urged other celebrities to take a similar stance and help in other projects such as this.

Zed, the president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, said all religions say to help the homeless and he also offered his support to Damon if he needs it for the project, as well as other charity missions in India.

Zed revealed that Damon stayed in the Radisson Hotel in Mahipalpur in Delhi and reportedly ate dal, chapatis and kebab during his stay there.

Brad Pitt and his family have donated $1 million to set up an endowment fund for paediatric cancer specialists at St John’s hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

A new clinic at the hospital will reportedly be called the St John’s Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center in honour of Pitt’s mother. She will reportedly open the centre this summer.

A local paper reported the donors also included Pitt’s brother Doug and his wife Lisa, and the actor’s sister Julie Neal and her husband Rob.

The hospital also reportedly has plans to use the funds for a 10-bedroom Ronald McDonald House. In addition, a neo-natal clinic and a paediatric intensive care unit are reported to be in the works.

Funny guy actor Will Ferrell is bringing out his own range of sunscreens to raise money for charity.

Ferrell, 41, who has starred in hit films including Anchorman, Elf and Blades of Glory, has put his name to three lotions – Sexy Hot Tan, Sunstroke and Forbidden Fruit.

The campaign is raising money for Cancer For College, a foundation that provides scholarships for cancer patients.

The three bottles will all feature different images of Ferrell with varying amounts of clothes on.

The actor said: “The bottle says it all. I’ve always dreamed of owning my own lotion company.”

Matt Damon is part of a humanitarian mission spearheaded by “Not on Our Watch” a non-profit group which involves Matt Damon, George Clooney, Don Cheadle and Brad Pitt among others. George Clooney has also been in the news lately for his frequent visits to the South African border to check on the plight of the refugees.

Matt Damon and the other celebrities who are part of “Not on Our Watch” are among the popular Hollywood A-listers who have taken a more active stance in promoting world peace and justice. The refugee amps have been packing it in after 3 million people escaped Zimbabwe’s political corruption, poverty and hunger.

Hollywood legend Paul Newman was conferred upon a posthumous honor by the US House of Representatives who unanimously passed a resolution honouring the late actor’s life and achievements.

Steve Cohen, a Democrat from the state of Tennessee introduced the move to honor the late actor’s achievements on the floor of the house in Washington which was unanimously passed in the house.

That’s really nice to know that the US House of Representatives has the time to remember the great work done by Paul Newman during his life time although there are other matter that the country is looking up to them to resolve soon.

It is also so typical of our politicians that they are always good in remembering the contribution made by people in areas other than politics but the timing of the recognition is mostly when that person is longer with us. But that of course does not take away anything from the greatness of this actor. Only highlights how lethargic our politicians are!

According to reports, Spade has just donated $100,000 to the Phoenix Police Department.

The Arizona native made the donation on Monday morning.

George Clooney held a fund raising party in London this week for the victims of Darfur and despite the financial crisis hit the UK severely he managed to raise a cool $14.57 million for the cause.

The sweet and smart actress Hilary Swank has asked the women around the globe to cut their hair short and donate them for a great cause which is to help provide wigs for women who loose their hair because of cancer.

The double Oscar winner actress has herself donated her hair after having her hair cut down to play the role of aviator Amelia Earheart in her latest movie.

Swank said, “One in three women are diagnosed with cancer in their lifetimes. A lot of my family members have had their lives devastated by cancer.”

She further added, “You just need to have eight inches (of hair) to donate.”

What a beautiful thought for the poor ladies who loose their hair after chemotherapy!!!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are continuing to help kids around the world, helping those who have been affected by tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation has just donated $2 million to the Global Health Committee to build a help center in Ethiopia. It will be named after their daughter Zahara, who was adopted from Ethiopia.

The center will be similar to the Maddox Chivan Children’s Center in Cambodia where children receive medical, education and social services.

In a statement sent to People, Jolie says that their “goal is to transfer the success we have had in Cambodia to Ethiopia where people are needlessly dying of tuberculosis, a curable disease, and HIV/AIDS, a treatable disease,” Jolie said in a statement to People.

Brad also adds that, “It is our hope when Zahara is older she will take responsibility of the clinic and continue its mission. The fact that poor people continue to die in our world today of TB, a curable disease, because of lack of access to drugs and care is unacceptable.”
