David Letterman has sensationally confessed to affairs with several female staff members of his US Late Show after refusing to become the victim of an alleged $2 million blackmail plot.

The alleged con artist behind the extortion scam was arrested after Letterman contacted police who advised him to send the a phony cheque to the blackmailer.
